This is false, and it's something that is simply getting parroted over and over.ĭenuvo does not work the same way for all games, and for most single player games on steam, an offline token system is used: on first launch, denuvo checks if a local offline token exists on the PC the game is being run on, and if it doesn't, then it sends a request to their servers to generate said token and store it locally on the PC.Īll of this is done in a handful of seconds when the game launches.Īfter this, all the following times the game is launched, all that denuvo does is checking again if a local token exists, and if it does, it checks if it's still valid, and if it is, then the game is launched and denuvo stops doing anything at all until you launch the game again.
Originally posted by GhostyGump:This is incorrect, Denuvo has an impact on performance as it runs while the game is running. Just earlier today, for example, I bought all 3 of Onechanbara games because I like the series for its fan-service and I wanted to support more lewd stuff so devs make more of it. If I like the game, I want to support it to reward developers for creating it, and most people who have disposable income think the same way I do.
This myth about lost sales is debunked many times over. Most people pirate games because they don't have money to buy them, so even if you prevent them from pirating your game they are not going to buy it anyway. I only pirated games when I was a broke teenager, and now that I am a working adult I own legitimately pretty much every single game I ever pirated.
I just hate this garbage - DRM is usually cracked in a week, and after that the only ones who suffer from worse performance are paying customers. The criminals have to ♥♥♥♥ around looking for cracks, because they're being treated like criminals. Originally posted by Kaldaieℵ₀:You're not treated like a criminal, if you buy the game it works. Last week I bought all 4 of Danganronpa games, Bayonetta, Vanquish and Conception 1+2, so I am happy - there are so many good games out there - you don't need to pay money for a privilege of being treated like a criminal. But would buy if this Denuvo garbage is removed. I only pirated stuff when I used to be a broke teenager anyway, so I know that the myth about lost sales is complete nonsense.ĭon't really need this one either - still have my old XBox360 case lying around.
Long ago I just watched a full playthrough on YouTube with all endings and never even bothered to pirate Automata because I was too busy playing my eroge VNs and other stuff. I bought Automata today when my friend told me that Denuvo was finally removed and the game is on sale. When pirates get a better version of the game with better performance you know you messed up. Well, you know, it is all about paying customers not wanting to be treated like thieves with this stupid intrusive DRM. You should be able to finish the game before the first re-activation is required. Originally posted by Kaldaieℵ₀:Why? It doesn't affect performance or anything.
